Syngenta Axial is a post-emergence, selective herbicide primarily used to control grassy weeds, such as Phalaris minor, in wheat crops. It provides fast-acting control while having a strong safety profile for the crop.

Product features

Active ingredient: The active ingredient in Axial is pinoxaden, which works by inhibiting the production of fatty acids in susceptible grasses. Some formulations may also contain a safener, cloquintocet-mexyl, to protect the crop.
Formulation: Axial is available as a liquid emulsifiable concentrate (EC).
Mode of action: The herbicide has a Group 1 mode of action, meaning it inhibits the enzyme Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase (ACCase) to disrupt fatty acid biosynthesis in grassy weeds.
Target weeds: It is highly effective against grass leaf weeds, including Phalaris minor (canary grass or Indian grass), wild oats, and rye-grasses.
Crop safety: The formulation includes a built-in safener that protects cereal crops like wheat and barley, allowing for effective weed control without harming the crop.
